What is »Universitätsvertretung«?

University representation (German: die Universitätsvertretung, UV) is the top level of the Austrian National Union of Students at every Austrian university. In Klagenfurt there are 11 seats for student representatives, who are nominated by the fractions that you vote for during the ÖH elections. Student representatives voice your opinions against the university administration (rectorate, senate, university council) and the general public. UV is also responsible for various ÖH departments, e.g. educational policy, social policy). Furthermore, UV is in charge of ÖH’s budget and its distribution among numerous departments and representations. Finally, university representation means choosing six representatives, who make sure the students’ interests will be heard in the senate.
